OUR HISTORY

The Tallahassee Lenders’ Consortium, Inc. (TLC), a Florida 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation, was founded in November 1993 by ten local financial institutions and the City of Tallahassee to provide a new affordable mortgage loan product to low- to moderate-income homebuyers.

The City of Tallahassee and Leon County provide down payment and closing cost assistance and the member lenders provide long term fixed rate permanent mortgages. TLC subsequently partnered with Leon County to broaden its service area to the entire county.

TLC’s programs have successfully evolved over the years to include HUD and FNMA certified comprehensive homebuyer education, consumer credit counseling, post home ownership education classes, delinquency counseling (TLC is HUD certified.), and “deep subsidy” loans . TLC is proud of its success in cultivating productive partnerships with the City and County, Tallahassee Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity, local lending institutions, real estate providers, and other nonprofit agencies that focus on affordable housing issues.
